As believers, we have been left by our Lord a magnificant promise. That promise is that at any moment in time He could come for us, this is called the rapture of the church. Even though it has yet to happen, God has always wanted Christians to live with our suitcase packed at the front door waiting for His appearing. Often, as exemplied in our current passage, godly living is often seen in the New Testament as someting to strive for in light of the fact that Jesus could come at any moment. So we read in Romans 13.11 and 12, "Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near.
