Our current passage is about David's escape to the Cave of Adullam. So, at the end of Chapter 21, David is as low as you can go and is on the lamb. David is doing everything right for God, but his reward is that he is the most wanted man in the country. Saul has launched a manhunt to find and end David with himself as the head of the posse. Saul’s jealousy is burning and infecting his soul. His continual chant is, “David must die.” So, what does David do? He heads for Adullam and finds a cave in which to find solace. There are a few Psalms that we believe that David writes at this time to connect with the Lord. One of these is Psalm 142.
