When opening Matthew 1, the first chapter in the New Testament, the reader is treated to the Messiah's genealogy. It starts with Abraham and ends with Jesus the Messiah. This study will focus in on the name just before Jesus in the genealogy, which is His stepfather Joseph. Joseph was in linage himself to be King of Israel but that never happened. Instead, God had a much greater calling, that is for Joseph to father and raise the Messiah who will save the people from their sins. This study is about five trials Joseph experienced as the Lord was preparing for his life's calling.
