If one has read James, it is immediately apparent that it is not written in the same style of Paul's writings. One major reason for this, is that two different audiences are being addressed. Paul's thirteen epistles were written to Gentiles while James was written to Messianic Jews outside Israel. James being the first of all the New Testament books was written even before Paul's first missionary journey. Hence, this gives a unique understanding of James audience being completed Jews who were the first to recognize the Messiah.
