Paul gets into the thick of things in Romans 9 in verse 6. Here addresses what everyone is thinking, "What went wrong with the plan of God that the Jews are out and the Gentile Church is in?" His point of verses 7-13 was to show that Israel always had two groups, true believers and those who were not. In our current section of verses 14-18, Paul continues to build his case by showing God's sovereignty in salvation. Here He shows how God woos some people to Himself and hardens those who reject Him.
